The Life and Art of Salvador Dalí

(from the series Modern Masters) Louise Hooper, with Alastair Sooke, GB 2010, 56’, E (without subtitles), courtesy of IWC Media Limited

This wildly shrill film, very much in keeping with the style of the 1960s, was produced in close collaboration with Salvador Dalí who was responsible for the concept and set in addition to performing in the main role. Orson Welles sought to give the film structure through the insertion of biographical elements but proves unable to tame Dalí’s surrealistic derring-do.
