Michael Blackwood, USA, 1984, 58’, E (without subtitles)
In this film, the American art critic Donald Kuspit visits six artists in their studios – Sandro Chia, Francesco Clemente, David Salle, Julian Schnabel, Georg Baselitz and Markus Lüpertz – and provided them with the opportunity to talk about their decisions related to form and content. What they all have in common is their use of strong, resolute gestures, injecting the field of painting in the early 1980s with new impulses. Clemente, Salle and Schnabel are represented in the exhibition FUTURE PRESENT with three large-scale paintings from the years 1980 to 1984.
