Gary Hill – I Believe It Is an Image

Maria Anna Tappeiner, Germany, 2001, 53’, G

As a video artist of the second generation alongside his peers Bruce Nauman and Bill Viola, Gary Hill intensively explored the electronic image and sought to identify its specific possibilities of expression. The film offers many work excerpts and gives Hill ample of chance to have his say. Of the no less than 34 works by Gary Hill from the years 1974 to 2003 held by the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation, Dervish (1995) and Windows (1978) are showcased in the exhibition FUTURE PRESENT.
