Tour with the conservator

The conservation of traditional materials such as oil on canvas or sculptures carved in stone are well documented. But the collection of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation also includes works made of chocolate, petroleum jelly, wax, plaster, plastic and other materials. The aging processes for these materials used over the past decades pose many unresolved issues and difficult challenges, but also open up new and exciting fields of research. In a guided visit of the exhibition FUTURE PRESENT with the conservator Marcus Broecker, a number of these conservation issues are probed in more detail on the basis of selected examples.
